World Refugee Day 2010

E-mail Print PDF

World Refugee Day is on June 20th. Refugees are people just like us; however, many Americans are unaware that tens of millions of people around the world have been forced to flee their homes in order to escape persecution or war.

Every year, people across the United States use World Refugee Day as a focus for raising awareness and funds in their own communities to gather support for the refugee cause. And at the same time they spread a little understanding about the reality of being a refugee.

This year for World Refugee Day we want to highlight the plight of refugees in our communities. We ask you to think about what it means to be one of those individual human beings, what it has been like for them to come here. And we ask you to contribute in whatever way you can to helping them rebuild their lives.
