Campaign Vision
The Capital Campaign supports IRCO’s goal of creating a multicultural IRCO Family Center (IFC). The IFC will offer multiethnic families in Multnomah County culturally and linguistically customized services for children, youth, family, and health care. These specialized services are an integral part in leading Portland’s newest residents to long-term self-sufficiency, social adaptation, and integration into Oregon society.
The new facility will be owned by IRCO and offer IRCO programs, community resources and will have the potential to house representatives from community-based organizations and other non-profit partner agencies. The new facility will:
- Consolidate IRCO’s Asian Family Center, Africa House and Health Department (all offering culturally specific children, youth, family, and health programming) into one location.
- Increase programming space by 50%.
- Eliminate reliance upon leased space, adding value and stability to IRCO and its essential community programs.
- Empower immigrant and refugee clients to become self-sufficient through receiving a wide spectrum of culturally specific care in one location.
The IRCO Family Center will be located in the Mid-Multnomah County area of Portland, Oregon. Accessible by Tri-Met MAX and Bus service, and major freeways, The IRCO Family Center will provide easily reached services and activities that will promote the integration of refugees, immigrants, and the community at large into a self-sufficient, healthy, and inclusive multiethnic society.
Services offered at the IRCO Family Center will address these essential areas:
- Parent and early childhood education to prepare children and their parents for success at home and in school.
- Culturally and linguistically competent adult and family services that support self-sufficiency and link refugees and immigrants to community resources
- Community building activities that connect new arrivals with their more established neighbors and build relationships that will bind Portland diverse communities together.
The IRCO Family Center is yet another way IRCO is providing pathways for its clients to be contributing members of the community by offering the resources, services and support they need to become self-sufficient contributing members of the community.
With a goal of $1.3 million for our new building, we are excited to already see donations coming in from around the community.
